Utility incentives can offset project cost as much as 50%.
Upgrade to an Efficient Lighting System
When upgrading to an energy efficient lighting system, the building can apply for a tax deduction through the Energy Policy Act of 2005. This deduction is available up to $0.60/ sq. ft. To achieve the maximum deduction the lighting system must meet W/ sq. ft reductions of 50%. When switching from HID to High intensity fluorescent (HIF) fixtures, the typical reduction can be as high as 53%.
